Land Tax

Land Tax in NSW is levied mainly on investment properties including vacant land, holiday homes, company title units, residential, commercial or industrial units, car spaces, commercial properties including factories, shops, offices and warehouses where the unimproved capital value (as per Valuer General’s Valuation) exceeds the threshold as set down each year by the Valuer General.

Land Tax may also be levied on your principal place of residence where the unimproved capital value exceeds a higher threshold as determined by the Valuer General each year.

Land Tax is levied on owners of land in NSW as at midnight on 31 December each year.

Structuring investments to minimise the impact of Land Tax is an important consideration before purchasing an investment property.
