Tax Practice Update

Welcome to the August 2015 edition of the Tax Practice Update. The ATO has advised that last year, it cross referenced information reported in tax returns against over 600 million transactions provided by third parties. It also contacted nearly 400,000 taxpayers who had apparent discrepancies in the information they reported in their tax returns. This update will explain their area of focus this year.

There is also a sad story of how a 81 year-old WA pensioner lost $110,000 in tax scam.
